ABOUT

Ruina is a jewelry practice founded by Charles Sommer. 

The jewelry began as an extension of my drawing practice - an interest in creating images that exist as autonomous forms, that speak to restraint and control and have a relationship to the body. With Ruina, these objects are meant to be worn, felt, kept close, and desired. 

Each piece is designed and carved by hand in wax, then cast in sterling silver. Forms reference architectural fragments, the geological, and the quiet yet brutal forces that erode and shape our world.

ADVENTUS consists of one-of-a-kind pieces released in limited drops. PONDUS, UNDA, and LIMBUS are the beginning of Ruina's made-to-order collection and are available in a wide variety of sizes.
